Climate Ready Classrooms

Help to create Aotearoa’s next generation of carbon literate ambassadors. Our Climate Ready Classrooms programme introduces learners to the key concepts surrounding climate change and empowers them to take climate action.

Climate Ready Classrooms is a series of workshops that explore the issues of climate change in an engaging and motivating way.

The programme has been designed with The New Zealand Curriculum in mind to help learners of all ages understand and address the impacts of climate change, empowering them with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to act as agents of change.

The four teacher-led workshops cover:

  • An introduction to climate change
  • The carbon cycle and biodiversity
  • The greenhouse effect and carbon footprints
  • Climate action

The Climate Ready Classrooms workshops are designed to be adaptable and be delivered flexibly, with New Zealand Curriculum links for levels 1 through 8. Upon completing the course, students receive a certificate of completion acknowledging the climate actions they have committed to take.

In line with UNESCO’s aim to increase “climate literacy” among young people, the programme also maps to 12 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The course can be delivered in whichever format is most suited to your students and can be discussed with our education team once you have registered via the form below.

By registering for Climate Ready Classrooms you’ll gain access to all of the resources for the four workshops as well as a Teacher Guide to make your learning a success.
