Clean Up Week

Every year during our annual Clean Up Week we mobilise Kiwis to come together, join forces and get out into their local community to pick up litter. Together, each and every year, we make a huge difference.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters EnviroWaste, Waste Management and some local councils, registered events will still be able to dispose of their litter for free at selected transfer stations right up until 14 November. This flexibility will allow for some leeway when registering and scheduling clean up events, should restrictions ease around group gatherings in the coming weeks, or if it’s necessary for events to be held in smaller groups, across different areas and or times/days.

Registrations for Clean Up Week 2021 will remain open until 14 November 2021

Clean Up Week is a great opportunity to get your friends, family, school, business or local community group together to participate in New Zealand’s largest clean up event and make a significant difference in your local area.

In 2020, we had a total number of 57,936 volunteers take part cleaning up an area equivalent to 4,935 rugby fields and collecting a total of 561,979kg of litter.

Please register your details below and a confirmation email will be sent to you including all the information you need to make your clean up event a success. By registering your clean up event you gain access to free resources as well as free litter disposal through selected councils and our partners at EnviroWaste and Waste Management.

We encourage all participants in Clean Up Week to create their own clean up kit from reusable resources to help reduce what goes into landfill. We’re also aware of the carbon footprint involved in the creation, single use and couriering of kits across the country. So this year we are doing everything possible to be climate conscious, and encouraging everyone to kit out their own clean up kits. We do however have a limited number of gloves and reusable bags available for our Community and Educational branches, schools and youth groups. We also have reusable clean up kit resources available to purchase at cost via our online store. The purchase or request of Clean Up Kits must be made by 18 October 2021 to ensure that we’re able to ship them out in time.

If you want to get involved, but don’t want to organise your own event, then check out our event calendar for a list of public events that you can join in your community.
