Clean Up Week

Clean Up Week is a great opportunity to get your friends, family, school, business or local community group together to participate in New Zealand’s largest clean up event and to make a positive and tangible impact in your local community.

Registrations are open for Clean Up Week 2023. Get your friends, family, school, business, local community or youth group together and be part of New Zealand’s largest movement against litter.

Clean Up Week 2023 will run from 16-22 September, kicking off on World Clean Up Day!

In 2022, we had a record breaking 67,400 volunteers take part, collecting a total of 655 tonnes of waste over an area equivalent to 5,751 rugby fields. Register now and let’s see if we can break the record again this year.

Free waste disposal of the litter you collect
By registering for Clean Up Week you’ll gain access to FREE waste disposal of your litter at selected refuse transfer stations across the country thanks to Waste Management, Enviro NZ and some local councils.

Free Clean Up Week kits and badges
All Clean Up Week participants are encouraged to take a climate conscious approach by creating their own reusable and sustainable clean up kits using everyday items such as buckets and gardening gloves. However, with the help of the Mars Wrigley Foundation, FREE reusable clean up kits will be available on request for some groups (including ECEs, schools, youth groups, Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s Community and Educational branches, Individual/Family and Not-for-Profit members) who don’t have access to their own clean up materials and who haven’t requested a kit before.

To encourage our young Tidy Kiwis, we also have limited edition, collectable badges available for ECEs, school groups and Educational Branches on request.

PLEASE NOTE ALL CLEAN UP WEEK GEAR INCLUDING BADGES, REUSABLE GLOVES AND REUSABLE BAGS ARE NOW OUT OF STOCK. Please consider creating your own clean up kit using items such as gardening gloves, buckets or tubs.

After your event, there’s a chance to win one of two Ultimate Ears BOOM 3 speakers by submitting your five favourite clean up event photos and an Evaluation Form before Friday 6 October 2023.

Registrations are open until 15 October 2023. Check out our FAQ page for more information.
