We have a network of Community and Educational Branches across the country who are all working hard to educate, inspire and empower Kiwis to ‘Do the Right Thing’ and Keep New Zealand Beautiful. Creating or joining a branch is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and try something new, and at the same time keep your little neck of New Zealand clean and green! You can find a list of all our Educational Branches and map of our Community Branches below. No branch in your area or at your school? Why not start one yourself? Educational Branches Our Educational Branches are early childhood centres, schools and tertiary institutions who are committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship, and who illustrate this in their key values. Educational Branches are key to engaging our youth and future decision makers – through sustainability initiatives, events and participation in environmental educational programmes. Each branch has the flexibility to focus on the initiatives and programmes that best fit in with their school’s environmental needs, student numbers and time available. It’s completely free to start an Educational Branch, the only expectation is that the school makes an active commitment to: Providing engaging opportunities for their students in environmental sustainability Exploring ideas to reduce the school’s environmental footprint Encouraging students to take responsibility and pride in caring for their local environment How do I start up an Educational Branch? If you’re a school and you’re interested in becoming an Educational Branch, then please get in touch by emailing education@knzb.org.nz. One of the main strengths of a Community Branch is their knowledge of their local area and the relationships that they have with others who support them. Every branch is different, reflecting the surrounding community, members and individual strengths and time availability to its volunteers. The only expectation of a Community Branch is that they hold a minimum of two public environmental events each year and that they submit a report at the end of each year to share with us what’s they’ve achieved.
