Organise a clean up

Organising a clean up is a great way to bring people together, help our environment and make a difference by keeping your little part of New Zealand litter free.

If you’re interested in organising a clean up event we have a range of programmes that you can get involved in – from corporate team building and facilitated events to citizen science programmes where you can clean up an area in your local community, collect data and contribute to our national database.

Citizen Science

Our citizen science programmes are a great way for you to get involved, collaborate and contribute to the solution whilst gaining experience in data collection and analysis.

We have two citizen science programmes to choose from:

Upstream Battle: Our Upstream Battle citizen science programme gets volunteers out collecting and auditing litter at key upstream sites, such as beside rivers, lakes and streams to help create a better understanding of the root causes of ocean pollution.

Backyard Battle: Our Backyard Battle citizen science programme gets volunteers out collecting litter at key inland sites, such as public recreational spaces, highways and railways, car parks, residential, retail and industrial sites to help create a better understanding of litter’s pathway across our land.

Corporate team building

Organising a clean up event is a fantastic team building exercise and a great way to get your organisation involved with our work not only for the good of the environment, but for the good of your employees and clients too.

We can provide clean up kits to corporate groups for a cost of $345*. These are available to purchase from our online shop.

Corporate clean up kits include:

  • 30 x gloves
  • 30 x rubbish bags
  • 1 x litter pick up tool
  • hand sanitiser
  • sharp object pick up tool
  • sharp object box
  • health and safety information
  • clean up event guide

*Please note that this cost only covers the cost of equipment for up to 30 people.

Facilitated events

A day out with Keep New Zealand Beautiful is one of the best staff engagement programmes available. With over 50 year’s experience we know how to have a good time and make it easy, educational and fun for all involved.

We deliver full planning and implementation, cover all health and safety requirements and provide educational information, all equipment, first aid kits, and follow up social media comms. We can also arrange for catering, drinks, transport, prizes and a photographer to make your day a hit.

Supporting community branch events

We’d like to support our branches and the many community volunteer groups throughout the country who are running beautification events by promoting them via our website event page. This could be a clean up, planting event, graffiti paint out or any other type of beautification initiative. If you’d like to promote your beautification event via our website, please complete this registration form.
