Clean Up Week

Clean Up Week is a great opportunity to get your friends, family, school, business or local community group together to participate in New Zealand’s largest clean up event and to make a positive and tangible impact in your local community.

Every year we mobilise thousands of Kiwis around the country to take part in New Zealand’s largest clean up event.

Clean Up Week is a great opportunity to get your friends, family, school, business, local community or youth group together and be part of New Zealand’s largest movement against litter.

In 2023, we had 67,200 volunteers register to take part in 627 clean up events across Aotearoa. Volunteers collected a total of 652 tonnes of waste over an area equivalent to 5,728 rugby fields.

Thanks to all of the volunteers who got out there in their local communities and made a difference to the environment!

Clean Up Week will be back next year, kicking off once again on World Clean Up Day 20 September 2024. Registrations will open in July 2024.

Clean up kits

This year we encourage all participants in Clean Up Week to create their own clean up kits from reusable resources eg: buckets, gardening gloves, or reusable bags like those you may have received from previous Clean Up Weeks. With the help of the Mars Wrigley Foundation, free clean up kits will be available on request for schools, youth groups, KNZB branches, as well as individual/family and not-for-profit members who don’t have access to their own clean up materials (while stocks last). People can also purchase reusable clean up kit resources at a cost from our online shop. The purchase or request of Clean Up Kits must be made by 8 September 2023 to ensure that we are able to ship them out in time.
