Congratulations to the Ogle-Turner brothers, winners of our July Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month award

Congratulations to the Ogle-Turner brothers, Tyson (10) Zac (9) and Eli (8), winners of our July Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month award.

The brothers, who live in Picton, have grown up near and are very connected to the sea. They practice a reciprocal relationship with Tangaroa (the guardians of the sea), where they help keep the water that provides them with kaimoana clean and clear.

In the summer months the boys take on missions to visit different beaches, bays and rivers in Marlborough in search of litter. They round up their cousins and friends and go snorkeling for litter, while others comb the beaches. They’ve found plenty of interesting items such as kids toys, underwear and road cones, while Zac recently came across a soft-drink can with a little fish inside that he promptly rescued.

Young Eli says his favourite thing is leaving to go home from a day in the water, knowing that there is less rubbish in the sea.

If you’ve got TikTok, check out the brothers and the missions they go on to keep Marlborough beautiful! @EnvirobrosWaitohi.

Whakamihi, congratulations! As this month’s Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month, the lads will receive a Keep New Zealand Beautiful merchandise pack and a Resene paint voucher – along with being automatically nominated for the Young Legend Award at our next Beautiful Awards! Plus, thanks to Stand Desk we have four desks to give away this year to our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month winners – we’ll draw a winner for this every three months.
