Congratulations to Sarah Rae, our August Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month

Every quarter we give away a quality desk from our friends at Stand Desk, who support our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month programme. The desks are manufactured here in Aotearoa using sustainable materials and are built to last.

This quarter’s winner is Sarah Rae, the Head of Performing Arts at Southland Girl’s High School. She was nominated for our August Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month by one of her students, who said that the classes’ sense of community and respect for the environment was led and inspired by this amazing teacher. Sarah challenges her pupils to adopt an area of the school to look after and to see what the environment could be, and to take both individual and collective action. The nominating student mentioned that Sarah is “an upstander, not a bystander” and we love the sentiment!

Sarah herself loves the enthusiasm of her students. “It has been so wonderful to see everyone at school embrace the looking after our environment message. We have such a beautiful site. It is tremendous to see them taking care of it and protecting it for now and future generations, with the vision of caring for all environments and seeing we are all part of the big picture.

This quarter, Sarah is the recipient of a Stand Desk valued at $799 – congratulations! We hope that the time she needs to spend behind a desk is done so in comfort, with sustainability in mind.

Congratulations! As the August Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month, Sarah received a Keep New Zealand Beautiful merchandise pack and a Resene paint voucher for any beautification efforts, as well as being entered into this year’s Beautiful Awards.
