JUNE VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

The winner of the New Zealand Couriers Volunteer of the Month for June 2016 was the Enviro Group from Vauxhaull School.

Fourteen students along with three teachers including Mr. Palo Shanahan came along on a very blustery day to Fort Takapuna to a planting event organised by National Office with participants from a number of our business members and like minded organisations.

The children were very enthusiastic, helpful and worked hard to plant 160 seedlings and hammer down the mulch mats. This reserve is very close to their school so they will be able to see the growth of these seedlings for years to come and feel proud that they were a part of Keeping New Zealand Beautiful for Arbor Week.

At school they give up their lunch times often for environmental projects in and around the school to enhance, beautify and sustain the environment for all students. We hope that being awarded the prize money and voucher for being the VOM’s of June, will help them to be able to do lots more environmental projects this year.
