Congratulations to Te Kamo Scout Group, our May Volunteer of the Month

The Te Kamo Scout Group in Whangarei have been recognised for the waste clean ups they do in the community. They regularly go out and about doing rubbish clean ups both on their own and sometimes for events locally in Whangarei. The scouts are passionate about their local community and environment.

In the scouting award scheme a set of badges can be earned called “Better World”. The focus is on making the world a better place via learning about issues and taking action to make things better in our communities for both the people and the environment. The Te Kamo Scout group is regularly taking action in the Whangarei community by doing many different things, including many rubbish cleanups.

From the youngest, 5 years to 18 years, they get involved in the rubbish clean ups at many different places around Whangarei including the Town Basin, A.H Reed Park and around their local area in Te Kamo. They have even been seen deep in the mangroves picking out rubbish. On a few occasions they have also joined the local clean up F.O.R.C.E team. The scout group youth are extremely enthusiastic and passionate about this work and they look forward to the day where there is no rubbish to pick up!

Thank you everyone for all the work you do to Keep New Zealand Beautiful
