Congratulations to Eleanor Dunn our June 2026 Volunteer of the month

Eleanor Dunn is a dedicated medical student and tireless community leader who has been at the heart of environmental volunteerism through the Student Volunteer Army (SVA) Otago since 2021. She served as Health & Safety Lead in 2022–2023, Vice President in 2023, Treasurer in 2024, and is currently the branch President. Under her leadership, SVA Otago has organised impactful initiatives including a major Castle Street cleanup, a tree releasing event in collaboration with local conservation groups, and an overnight camp on Quarantine Island with the Otago University Birding Society. Earlier this year, Eleanor coordinated a native tree planting trip to the Maniototo, continuing a legacy of hands-on environmental action.
Over the years, Eleanor has helped run dozens of clean-ups in Dunedin streets, schools, and public spaces, mobilising hundreds of student volunteers to take pride in their environment. She leads by example—balancing her medical studies, science communication, tutoring and research with environmental advocacy—and has built long-standing partnerships across the community. Her ability to empower young people, engage meaningfully with kaupapa Māori, and deliver real, visible change makes her an inspiring and thoroughly deserving Tidy Kiwi.
