But we think he’s worth putting the spotlight on.David Cooper has consistently been removing rubbish from parts of the Ashley River. He regularly fills his trailer and takes the load to the local Resource Recovery Park.David says that he does these clean ups because he values the Ashley River and the part it plays in our community.“Most people love and respect the river, using it for fun, recreation, and family time. I am happy to be a part of the community helping to look after it for everyone to enjoy.Our family enjoys horse-riding, biking, running, and dog walking all on the Ashley. Showing how lucky we are in Canterbury to have this so available for all in our community to enjoy.Unfortunately, there are some who don’t care and continue to dump their rubbish in this area. In the latest clean up I found 40 tyres, car parts and large glass sheets laid out on the grass.I’m out there regularly checking on hot spots and doing my bit to remove the litter.The Waimakariri District Council and Environment Canterbury are very supportive and grateful for all his mahi.
