27 Apr 2026Love Your Path is a community driven initiative to help look after local paths. Roger organises a group which maintains a shared path, the section of Te Ara ki Uta Ki Tai between Glen Innes and St Johns. It is a lovely wide path, originally planted with native trees, harakeke, shrubs and grasses. It was neglected over time, and noxious weeds invaded the plantings, with only occasional efforts to weed and remove litter and rubbish. After the floods of 2023, large amounts of gravel swept over the path, and a few individuals got together, and a maintenance group was formed. The first ‘Love Your Path’ event was delivered in June 2024, it was a big success, and now Roger co-ordinates about ten or more people to meet once a month to help keep the path clear of debris and to plant, maintain and water the vegetation. Recently, a gift of sunflowers added a joyful touch. They make a huge contribution, improving the amenity in our neighbourhood, and showing love and care for the environment.Thank you, Roger, for Keeping New Zealand BeautifulShare this page
