Susan Hodkinson Wins September Volunteer Of The Month

Congratulations to Susan Hodkinson, our Volunteer of the Month for September.

Susan has been picking up litter in the Central Mount Maunganui area for close to 30 years. She lives near a sports ground and says she acts as the virtual skip cleaning up after events. Susan is passionate about the problem with broken glass and cigarette butts and has created a web page called NO CUTS NO BUTTS.

She says: “I’m on a crusade to ensure Mount Maunganui is clean so I want more waste warriors to: not litter; respond to litter they see around their homes, school, playgrounds, car parks, road side gutters etc by picking it up; and every user of a public facility to ensure it’s clean when they leave and this means the coffee cups and butts tossed on the ground”.

Congratulations Susan and thank you for your hard work to Keep New Zealand Beautiful.

The winner of the New Zealand Couriers Volunteer of the Month receives $100, a KNZB tshirt, New Zealand Couriers bag, Resene paint voucher, Klean Kanteen drink bottle, a 6-pack of Vista Drinks sparkling water and more – along with being automatically entered into the annual Beautiful Awards!

If you know someone who does great work keeping New Zealand beautiful, you can nominate them here.
