8 Oct 2026 Clean Up Week brought people together right across Aotearoa New Zealand, with communities rolling up their sleeves to tackle litter in the places they live, work, and play. From local beaches and parks to streets, schools, and neighbourhoods, thousands of people took action, proving that you don’t need a big team or a big plan to make a difference. Every bag collected, every piece of litter picked up, and every person who joined in helped create cleaner, greener places for everyone. And the numbers tell an impressive story. Based on the registrations we received (and knowing that many school and business clean-ups weren’t registered), we estimate that more than 4,000 people got involved across the country. Together, their combined efforts removed an estimated 38 tonnes of rubbish from our communities. That’s more than just a lot of litter — it’s thousands of people choosing to take action for the places they call home. Thank you to everyone who got involved! Your time, energy, and care for your community made Clean Up Week possible. Here’s a snapshot of some of the fantastic mahi from around the country.
