NEW ZEALAND COURIERS & RESENE DECEMBER VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Volunteer of the Month is proudly supported by New Zealand Couriers and Resene. Each month, an extraordinary volunteer is acknowledged for outstanding service. They also receive a $100 cheque and gym bag, courtesy of New Zealand Couriers, a $100 paint voucher, courtesy of Resene, a certificate and various other goodies.

Jean Waring who is in her 80’s, goes out every day walking the streets around the vicinity of her home in Feilding, picking up rubbish.  This includes a walk up the town’s steepest street to the look out area at the top, which is notorious for littering of fast food containers.  Jean equipped with gloves and bags, gathers up all the rubbish, and sorts it as she goes along, putting the non recyclables into the general rubbish bins along her route.  She takes the recyclables back near her home to the nearest recycling facility drop off point, where she sorts them out putting them into the appropriate slot.

Jean was ‘caught in action’ earlier this year and agreed to have her photo taken.  She was visited a few days later and given a KFB t-shirt as a token of appreciation.

Jean is well known for this voluntary work she does and is an inspiration to others.  She enjoys making this contribution towards keeping Feilding beautiful, and has been doing it daily for about 20 years.
