Congratulations to our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month for April, Katharina Quinlan!

Congratulations to our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month, Katharina Quinlan.

Katharina has been running Plastic Free Kaeo in Northland since 2017. The group started out sewing reusable bags to encourage the community to avoid plastic bags but now do so much more.

Plastic Free Kaeo provide a ‘Whanau Welcome Pack’ to new babies and their families, which includes handmade beeswax wraps, wet bags and other plastic free items, as well as hold workshops to educate their community about a plastic free lifestyle and also organise regular clean up events in town and on the local beaches.

“I really enjoy organising our group and events and really didn’t expect to be recognised as a volunteer of the month by an impressing organisation like Keep New Zealand Beautiful! I get so much back anyway, meeting so many wonderfully inspiring people, making friends and hopefully teaching our children that we all can make a difference and that it is never too late to do something.”

Congratulations again Katharina and thanks for starting this fantastic initiative to keep your little part of New Zealand beautiful.
