Congratulations to our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month for April, Anna Sedcole!

Congratulations to our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month, Anna Sedcole!

Anna has been a passionate eco warrior since attempting Plastic Free July several years ago. The challenge made her realise how much unnecessary waste she was collecting, and how as  a consumer she can make a difference with her dollar. She says, “Small changes do make a big difference.”

Attempting to be zero waste has driven her decision making when buying products, as well as encouraging businesses and politicians to do more when it comes to waste creation.

Another big part of her waste-free lifestyle is educating her two young children. Last year, she presented a talk on plastic with her 7-year-old to his school class. When her son was five, he wrote a letter to the Prime Minister about plastic bags. When plastic bags were banned, she explained the role her son had played in that change. “It’s really important to me that we show children that they have a say in their future.”

She shares her waste journey on her Instagram account @alifelesswasted. Here she can show her friends and family helpful tips and tricks, so they feel empowered to follow in her low waste footsteps.

Congratulations again, Anna! Thank you for doing your part to Keep New Zealand Beautiful.

The winner of Volunteer of the Month receives $100, a Keep New Zealand Beautiful t-shirt, a bag, Resene paint voucher, Klean Kanteen drink bottle and more – along with being automatically nominated for the Tidy Kiwi award at our annual Beautiful Awards!
