MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK

When Bucklands Beach Primary School contacted us about wanting to clean up their local beach, we were delighted to be able to help out. The whole school got involved – all 480 students, along with around 50 teachers and parents.

Our Project Manager, Jo, went along as well. “It was a great day,” said Jo. “We provided everyone with gloves and bags to make sure they stayed safe while collecting rubbish and I also spoke to the senior students about identifying general rubbish and recyclables. Many hands make light work and they cleared the whole beach, which is about 5km long – a fantastic effort!”

Teaching our children about the effects of litter on our environment and helping them become Tidy Kiwis is really important to keep our communities clean and safe. Great work Bucklands Beach Primary School for your commitment to keeping New Zealand beautiful.

Here are some great photos of the day:

You never know what you’re going to find at the beach!

An army of Tidy Kiwis gets the beach cleaned in no time.

We found all sorts of rubbish and made sure we were getting everything, no matter how small.

Low tide gave us a great opportunity to clean even more rubbish from the beach.

This will all go off to be recycled, saving our precious resources as well as making sure nobody hurts themselves on broken glass.

Thanks again Bucklands Beach Primary School – you all deserve a big thumbs up!

It only cost about $200 to provide the equipment needed by over 500 people to clean nearly 5km of beach, which is great value for money. If you’d like to help more Kiwis get out and about tidying up our communities, you can make a donation here.
