KNZB LEAD BY EXAMPLE WITH AN ECO-FRIENDLY OFFICE REVAMP

Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s revamped office space shows just how easy it is to develop an eco-friendly office environment.

When KNZB took over the lease at their East Tamaki premise earlier this month, Keep New Zealand Beautiful was faced with the challenge of having no furniture for their national head office.

Being a not-for-profit charitable organisation which focuses on waste management and environmental sustainability KNZB General Manager, Heather Saunderson took this opportunity to review their office “green factor” and lead by example by developing a more environmentally friendly work space.

Ms Saunderson said not only is recycling office furniture good for the environment, but it is also good for business. “Thanks to the generous donations of pallets from local businesses and the time of volunteers we have been able to save the society a lot of money.”

She says it would be great to see other offices review their “green factor” and take steps to become more eco-friendly.  “There is so much that a business can do to help the environment and it doesn’t need to cost anything.  Whether it is turning off lights and heating at the end of the day, adjusting your screen brightness or setting up a recycling program…every little bit helps.”
