CLEAN UP WEEK 2025 – Success Highlights Failure.

With over 200 registrations from individuals, school and community groups, businesses (both big and small), councils and even a government department, KNZB’s Clean Up week saw over 4000 volunteers give up their time to clean up their piece of New Zealand.

Collectively over 30 Tonnes of rubbish was collected from our environment and disposed of responsibly.

A MASSIVE EFFORT- THANK YOU EVERYONE.

And a special thank you to of main sponsor Suntory and to our supporters WM New Zealand and Enviro Nz

Sadly, such a successful event has highlighted, yet again, the failure to control the litter problem in New Zealand. Litter audits undertaken in the early 2020’s by KNZB (and others) highlighted the growing problem back then. Yet the only thing that seems to have changed is the increasing amount of litter.

We can’t continue to rely on volunteers to clean up the country.

But in the meantime ….
