5 Oct 2017Recycle and raise money for charity! New Zealanders can help Colgate-Palmolive Ltd (“Colgate”) raise money for Keep New Zealand Beautiful by recycling their oral care waste at New World. The second phase of the Colgate Better World Recycling Project is about to launch in New World stores all around New Zealand, allowing New Zealanders to help raise money for charity simply by dropping off their used eligible* oral care products at their nearest store. Colgate, New World and TerraCycle have teamed up to create a network of in-store drop-off points that accept *any brand of toothpaste tubes and packaging, non-electric toothbrushes and packaging, floss containers and packaging and interdental brushes and packaging for recycling. Anyone interested in participating simply needs to head to their local New World store to pick up a free paper bag that can be filled with eligible oral care waste. Once the bag is full, they can return to the store to drop it in a dedicated collection bin for recycling. Colgate will donate $1,000 upfront to Keep New Zealand Beautiful, along with two cents for each piece of eligible waste returned through the Better World Recycling Project. Maximum donation to be made by Colgate is $10,000. “We’re thrilled that New World has jumped on board the Better World Recycling Project to help us take the program one step further,” said John Garside, General Manager, Colgate. “Not only will we be diverting more waste from landfill, but we will also be raising money for Keep New Zealand Beautiful, an incredibly important environmental organisation working towards a better tomorrow.” New World stores will be accepting oral care waste between Monday October 9, 2017 and Sunday November 5, 2017. The Colgate Better World Recycling Project sits within the ongoing Oral Care Recycling Programme, a partnership launched by TerraCycle and Colgate in 2014. The Oral Care Recycling Programme looks to extend the lifecycle of everyday oral care items regardless of brand. The items will be pelletised then potentially recycled into generic products such as park benches, watering cans and waste bins.
