19 Sep 2025 Kiwis from around the country will come together in two weeks’ time to ‘Do The Right Thing’ in their communities by taking part in the annual Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week. Proudly sponsored by Suntory, the Keep New Zealand Beautiful event runs from 19 – 25 September and is New Zealand’s largest clean up event. Clean Up Week is a great opportunity for individuals, schools, businesses and community groups to make a real difference to their local communities. Previous events have seen over 67,000 volunteers registered, taking part in 627 clean up events across Aotearoa. Thanks to these volunteers 625 tonnes of waste has been removed from neighbourhoods, waterways and community spaces. It is hoped that this year will be even better! Keep New Zealand Beautiful has once again partnered with Waste Management and EnviroWaste so volunteers who have registered can dispose of the rubbish they collect for free at selected transfer stations around the country. Wayne Gazley, National Support Manager for Keep New Zealand Beautiful says “Clean Up Week is an important way to promote awareness of the huge litter problem facing New Zealand. It helps to educate and change people’s attitudes towards litter, and it gives everyone the opportunity to get involved in a positive way to maintain our clean green image. “Clean Up events range massively in size, from small scale events held by Kindy kids and their families, to much bigger events run by some of New Zealand’s largest corporations. Regardless, every piece of rubbish collected makes a difference to our environment and to keeping Aotearoa beautiful.” The week-long event will run from 19 – 25 September. Online registrations are now open at www.knzb.org.nz Keep New Zealand Beautiful is an iconic not-for profit charitable organisation that has been leading the way in litter abatement and on educating New Zealanders to ‘Be A Tidy Kiwi’ since 1967.
