Clean-up week across New Zealand touches-down in Kawerau – with Essity

Keep Kawerau Beautiful is joining the masses of volunteers throughout New Zealand who will pick-up other people’s litter during Clean-Up Week, tackling the streets of Kawerau to seek and find, pick and dispose of a range of litter. This year will see a collaboration with Rotary Club of Kawerau to double the efforts to Keep Kawerau Beautiful.

Registration is essential, so volunteers should be at the Maurie Kjar Aquatic Centre car park from 11am to 11.30am, Sunday 20^th September.  Keep Kawerau Beautiful spokesperson, Jonnie Mead, says “We are grateful for the involvement again this year of local business, Essity Kawerau who are supporting the community sausage sizzle to follow the big clean.  And yes, Rolly the Dog will surprise the community volunteers with a visit.

THE BIG CLEAN UP DAY Volunteers are urged to wear sturdy shoes on the day, bring a drink, wear something warm and waterproof in case it rains, and most of all, wear a great attitude about keeping Kawerau beautiful.

EVENT DETAILS:

11am to 11.30am – REGISTER FOR THE CLEAN UP AT THE POOLS CAR PARK. Health and Safety brief.

GLOVES AND BAGS WILL BE PROVIDED

THE BIG CLEAN COMMENCES AT 11.30AM (volunteers will be allocated clean-up areas at Registration)

ALL RUBBISH needs to come back to the POOLS CAR PARK for a photo of the bags prior to them going to the Kawerau Transfer Station for weight-in and disposal

VOLUNTEERS NEEDS TO BE BACK AT THE CARPARK BY 2.30PM AT THE LATEST with their rubbish bag,

SAUSAGE SIZZLE COOK-UP starts at 12.30, finishing at 3.30.

SPOT PRIZES will be called out (from your registration number) from 2.00pm
