We at Keep New Zealand Beautiful really love this country!
And we need as many people to help us keep it beautiful. As a non-profit organisation KNZB operates as a charitable trust to promote litter abatement, waste minimisation as well as town and city beautification across New Zealand.

We're about inspiring, educating and providing resources for volunteers who share our passion. We are famous for our annual 'Clean up Week', 'Best Towns and Cities Awards', Do the Right Thing and Be a Tidy Kiwi campaigns, but we don’t stop there!
KNZB Members and volunteers include schools, councils, businesses and community groups who work together in their own patch and across NZ to make their environments a better place.
Who We Are
Keep New Zealand Beautiful was established under the New Zealand Litter Act 1979. Our national organisation, the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Society Inc. runs nation-wide programmes under the ‘Keep ... Beautiful’ name, for example ‘Keep Kaiapoi Beautiful’. These programmes have run for over 20 years and have strong community support with volunteers carrying out environmental improvements and educational focused activities throughout the year.

These programmes have grown over the years to include not only addressing litter abatement and education, but also capturing broader environmental objectives. These include activities aimed at restoring, enhancing and protecting the natural and urban environments. KNZB has driven cleanup projects, tree-planting, stream restoration efforts, graffiti removal and environmental education programmes designed to inspire children’s interest in their environment and motivate community participation.
Our strategic plan sets out our vision and mission for the society and how we will achieve them. Working in partnership with local authorities and iwi, businesses, community groups and schools, KNZB acts as a helping hand wherever an opportunity exists. A volunteer management committee comprising of local residents and council representatives govern the local application of the KNZB programme. Most KNZB programmes receive project funding by way of grants from their local Councils and or Community Boards.
KNZB is governed by a Board comprising of Zone Representatives from around the country, representatives from business and from Local Government of New Zealand. The Board is nominated and elected at the Annual General Meeting with the Chairperson being appointed by the Board. They are responsible for the strategic direction, financial health and governance of the organisation.
