DESCRIPTION:Join Ghost Diving New Zealand for a community cleanup. \n\n\n\nThis will be an ocean and shore-based clean up targeting rubbish. \n\n\n\nScuba divers\, free divers and shore crew all needed! \n\n\n\nDATE: Saturday 4th July \n\n\n\nTIMES: \n\n\n\n9.00am – Registrations open \n\n\n\n9:45am – Briefing \n\n\n\n10.00am – Divers in the water \n\n\n\n2.00pm – Clean-up and pack down \n\n\n\nLOCATION: Royal Port Nicholson in front of the yacht club – look for the GDNZ signs. \n\n\n\nScuba Divers who wish to participate must have a minimum of 30 dives and can produce a dive log and be comfortable working in low / zero visibility. \n\n\n\nScuba and Free Divers must provide their own gear and tanks. If you also have your own catch bag(s) or float boat for collecting rubbish\, please bring this along and ensure they are named. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to join in the fun and participate as part of the shore crew\, you will need to make sure you are wearing fully covered shoes and bring a pair of gardening gloves… also be prepared to get wet and dirty! \n\n\n\nALL PARTICIPANTS\, SHORE CREW AND DIVERS MUST REGISTER ON ARRIVAL. \n\n\n\nPLEASE NOTE: \n\n\n\n\nThis is a free\, family friendly event\, but children must be supervised at all times by an adult.\n\n\n\nClosed toe footwear must be worn for safety.\n\n\n\nPlease bring your own hand protection (gardening gloves or similar).\n\n\n\nDon’t forget your own water bottle and bring sunscreen if it’s a warm day.\n\n\n\nDress for the weather (warm clothes and jackets)\n\n\n\nThere will also be plenty of work for non-divers to get involved.\n\n\n\n\nShould the event be cancelled due to circumstances out of our control\, notification will be given on the Facebook page the night before. DESCRIPTION:Rain date: Sunday 20 September 2026\n\n\n\n‘Do the Right Thing’ — rally your friends and whānau to help make a collective difference in your neighbourhood!\n\n\n\nBuilding on the success of last year’s event — where over 200 amazing volunteers helped collect around 500 kg of rubbish from Tāhunanui Beach and surrounds — we’re once again inviting the local community and businesses to join us for another big clean-up. But this time\, we’re aiming for 1000 kgs! This event is part of Clean Up Week 2026\, New Zealand’s largest annual movement against litter. \n\n\n\nClean Up Week shines a light on how much litter ends up in our environment and brings communities together to tackle the issue head-on. This year\, Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week incorporates World Clean Up Day on 19th September – a global civic movement that unites individuals\, governments\, and organisations to address waste. Our event also falls during the 2026 Climate Action Festival\, hosted by Nelson Tasman Climate Forum. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll be cleaning up: \n\n\n\n\nTāhunanui Beach\n\n\n\nThe inlet\n\n\n\nThe Back Beach\n\n\n\nSurrounding areas\n\n\n\n\nAfter the clean-up\, stick around for a thank-you BBQ and the chance to win spot prizes as a token of our appreciation. \n\n\n\nWhat to Bring & Wear\n\n\n\n\nSturdy shoes\n\n\n\nLong-sleeve shirts and trousers\n\n\n\nSun hat\n\n\n\nDrinking water\n\n\n\n\nWe also encourage you to bring: \n\n\n\n\nReusable/gardening gloves\n\n\n\nJute/firewood/reusable bags or buckets for collecting rubbish\n\n\n\n\nWe’ll provide gloves and bags if needed\, along with litter pick-up tools\, sunblock\, and bug spray. \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nAll volunteers must register on arrival for Health & Safety reasons — it only takes a minute!Look for our gazebo with the ‘Registration’ sign behind the Beach Café on Main Tāhunanui Beach. \n\n\n\nWe’d love to see you there — bring your friends\, whānau\, students\, or colleagues. DESCRIPTION:Keep Kawerau Beautiful is joining the masses of volunteers throughout New Zealand who will pick-up other people’s litter during Clean-Up Week\, tackling the streets of Kawerau to seek and find\, pick and dispose of a range of litter. This year will see a collaboration with Rotary Club of Kawerau to double the efforts to Keep Kawerau Beautiful. \n\n\n\nRegistration is essential\, so volunteers should be at the Maurie Kjar Aquatic Centre car park from 11am to 11.30am\, Sunday 20th September.  Keep Kawerau Beautiful spokesperson\, Jonnie Mead\, says “We are grateful for the involvement again this year of local business\, Essity Kawerau who are supporting the community sausage sizzle to follow the big clean.  And yes\, Rolly the Dog will surprise the community volunteers with a visit. \n\n\n\nTHE BIG CLEAN UP DAY Volunteers are urged to wear sturdy shoes on the day\, bring a drink\, wear something warm and waterproof in case it rains\, and most of all\, wear a great attitude about keeping Kawerau beautiful. \n\n\n\nEVENT DETAILS: \n\n\n\n11am to 11.30am – REGISTER FOR THE CLEAN UP AT THE POOLS CAR PARK.
