It disappoints me as I was part of the volunteers from The Green Island Plunket group approx 20 years ago who cleaned up the area and did a native tree planting fundraiser. There was a rock with a plaque of the news of businesses and families who donated to this. Over the years the plaque has been defaced and the area overgrown and rubbish lying around. This area was meant to be ongoingly maintained by the DCC but seems over the years been forgotten. So with Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s Clean Up Week being promoted by our local community group I felt it fitting to put a hand up for this area.
