SUMMARY:Valley Spring Clean
DESCRIPTION:The Valley Spring Clean is a by the community\, for the community event in which we encourage the public to bring in their waste\, provide demonstrations on sustainable initiatives and have numerous fun activities for kids to name just a small aspect of this jam-packed day. \nThe Spring Clean occurs to support the people of North East Valley in being responsible with what they no longer need. With support from Dunedin City Council\, we are going bigger and better\, especially in avoiding sending items to landfill. We’ll have a team of dedicated volunteers assessing and diverting as much as possible away from the skip\, as well as a cloth swap shop for unwanted items\, The community can bring along paint\, scrap metal\, plant punnets and pots for re-use and recycling. The Stitch Kitchen team will be on site to help repair or re-purpose clothes for those who wish to do so. It’s all taking place on the grounds of our Valley Project. \nThere will be children’s entertainment as well as presentations by Enviro-schools on waste minimisation and repurposing\, food for volunteers and the public provided by the wonderful community-minded Dunedin Bowling Club and much more! \nIt’s all happening on Saturday 24 September 2022 from 11am to 3pm.

DESCRIPTION:Keep Hamilton Beautiful will be hosting a clean up event in Hamilton on 22 April 2023\, coinciding with the International Earth Day celebration.The branch has partnered with Hamilton City Library this time\, who will be running activities for Earth Day at the event to celebrate our planet. \n\n\n\nCome along and get involved\, it will be fun!There will be heaps of prizes\, games and different crafts that kids can enjoy too. Rubbish pickers\, gloves and bags will be provided\, however\, if you have your own please bring these along.Up to this point\, the branch have successfully cleared over five tonnes of garbage from the streets through their clean up efforts.

Registrations open for the land and coastal clean up at around 10:45am. As the school holidays draw to a close\, Keep New Zealand Beautiful would like to give some love back to these spaces we’ve enjoyed\, by facilitating a couple of Upstream Battles in the East Auckland area.  \n\n\n\nThese Battles will involve: – Collecting litter – Sorting and categorising litter – Removal and correct disposal of litter \n\n\n\nAs well as being unsightly and unsanitary\, litter poses a threat to wildlife on land and at sea. To keep this litter from reaching our precious oceans\, we need to pick it up and dispose of it correctly while it is still on land. That is where you come in! \n\n\n\nKeep New Zealand Beautiful will provide the rubbish bags and gloves\, as well as having a photo set up and stickers\, and M&Ms to give away. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to join us please use the RSVP function below or email lauren@knzb.org.nz with the ‘Cockle Bay Reserve’ in the subject line.
