SUMMARY:Cross Street Cross Roads Clean Up
DESCRIPTION:For Our Real Clean Environment will host the Love Whangārei Monthly Clean Up on Saturday 17th September as part of Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s Clean Up Week. \nWe will be based on the corner of Cross Street and Gorrie Road to clean up along the Kamo shared path. Meeting at 10am and working through until about 12pm. \nWe want to bring awareness to the local businesses\, schools and residents about how much and what type of litter is ending up in the environment\, so we will be conducting a litter audit as part of the event. \nWe will have volunteering opportunities for a mix of abilities with mixed terrain as well as litter sorting and can crushing to do at the trailer. \nWe will supply gloves\, buckets\, bags\, high vis\, sanitizer\, sunblock\, first aid and water. You need to bring sturdy shoes and motivation. \nPlease note if you are attending the event\, we are being asked to advise everyone; stay home if ill – or been asked to isolate. Please park up courteously and leave some spaces for those who are visiting the location.

SUMMARY:Valley Spring Clean
DESCRIPTION:The Valley Spring Clean is a by the community\, for the community event in which we encourage the public to bring in their waste\, provide demonstrations on sustainable initiatives and have numerous fun activities for kids to name just a small aspect of this jam-packed day. \nThe Spring Clean occurs to support the people of North East Valley in being responsible with what they no longer need. With support from Dunedin City Council\, we are going bigger and better\, especially in avoiding sending items to landfill. We’ll have a team of dedicated volunteers assessing and diverting as much as possible away from the skip\, as well as a cloth swap shop for unwanted items\, The community can bring along paint\, scrap metal\, plant punnets and pots for re-use and recycling. The Stitch Kitchen team will be on site to help repair or re-purpose clothes for those who wish to do so. It’s all taking place on the grounds of our Valley Project. \nThere will be children’s entertainment as well as presentations by Enviro-schools on waste minimisation and repurposing\, food for volunteers and the public provided by the wonderful community-minded Dunedin Bowling Club and much more! \nIt’s all happening on Saturday 24 September 2022 from 11am to 3pm.
