Local artists sought to paint New Zealand beautiful

Keep New Zealand Beautiful (KNZB) is looking to merge nature with art as part of its 2018 Nature Murals competition. KNZB are calling for submissions from artists from five regions:

  • Northland
  • Bay of Plenty
  • Manawatu
  • Tasman
  • Otago

The Nature Murals competition calls artists from these regions to help beautify spaces in the community that people occupy every day. From today, artists will be able to submit their proposals to Keep New Zealand Beautiful on their website.

Local artists are encouraged to enhance ordinary spaces within their community and work with elements of the existing natural environment to create a piece of local art.

KNZB CEO Heather Saunderson believes the Nature Murals programme is a great way to give communities a connection to their natural environment through art.

“The Nature murals competition gives artists an opportunity to bring what’s beautiful about their region’s natural surroundings into the heart of their community,” says Heather.

Each winner will receive a $1,000 grant from Resene and $750 of Resene vouchers, which can be used for supplies to create their mural.

Nature Mural submissions close on 31 March 2018, with judging to take place in April. Terms and conditions for the competition can be found at here.
