Some recent grass roots work that has taken place in Feilding:

  • Scouts and Cubs cleaned up Makino Streem.

  • Lytton street school held a Litter-a-thon.

  • Manawatu Garden Festival, ran over two days with 15,000-20,000 people attended.

  • Removal of grafitti on town bridges and repainting them.

  • The Kowhai flower has been a National flower for a century this was celebrated on the 10/10/2010 by planting 300 variations of Kowhai trees in Kowhai Park.

  • Working on funding with Opus for Electric BBQ's in Kowhai Park.

  • Arbor Day and Conservation Day were supported by planting by the public and Guides, Brownies, Pippins, Rovers, Cubs and Scouts.

  • Best street signs were erected.

  • Litter Awards given out.

  • Childrens' Digital Photographic, colouring in and Poster Competitions.

  • Swap-a-plant Day.

  • A "Bird" corridoor has been planted along what was Railway Land but is now owned by our Council.

  • Planting replacements in the Camellia walk.

  • Retailer's plant growing competition (with a prize for the person who looks after thier plant the best.)

  • Planned Christmas float.

  • Planted Agapanthus on a cliff at end of a no exit street.

  • Assisted Manchester Street School on Enviro Day.
